Interview with Elie-Grégoire Khoury, Co-Founder of Dermandar

Dermandar (“All around” in Lebanese slang) is a Lebanese company specialized in digital image technologies that developed a tool to create and share panoramic photos. It was co-founded by Elias Fadel Khoury and Elie-Grégoire Khoury.

Prior to the mobile app release, the co-founders created a website where you upload your photos regardless of the camera, they get automatically stitched and then you can share them on Dermandar’s platform through a Dermandar account.

The process of creating panoramic photos became even easier when the company released the mobile app. All you need to do is “Shoot & Share”.

Soon after the release, the app achieved great success “with over 200 000 downloads in just under two weeks”, wrote The Next Web.

Two weeks ago we interviewed one of Dermandar’s co-founders, Elie-Grégoire Khoury, via email.

What makes Dermandar different from other similar tools? Read more

Interview with Ramy Dodin, Co-Founder of Magnolia Labs and Former Software Engineer at Google

“For people who see themselves as a sort of a catalyst, the natural place to go is entrepreneurship and found their own company rather than be employees within large companies where they are expected to be more specialized and limited in their thinking” – Ramy Dodin

Ramy Dodin is the co-founder of Magnolia Labs.  Prior to Magnolia he worked as a Software Engineer at Google and completed a BA in Computer Science at UC Berkeley.

In an interview we conducted with Ramy recently, we had an opportunity to learn more about his experience at Google, the reason he left Google, his past experience, as well as his view on the startup scene in the Arab world.

In the end he advised other entrepreneurs to be creative and to believe in themselves but at the same time to be humble and open to negative feedback because “there are a lot of extraordinary entrepreneurs out there. If you don’t do it right, someone else will do it”.

Who is Ramy Dodin?

He is a graduate from University of California Berkeley with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences.

Prior to starting Magnolia Labs, his latest startup project, he worked at Google as a software engineer for three and a half years. Ramy started his entrepreneurship journey at the age of 16 when he founded a newspaper in high school.
